PRESIDENTS  MESSAGE

It is a great honour and privilege to have been elected Men's President of The Royal County of Berkshire Bowling Association for 2017.  I will endeavour to uphold the standards and traditions of my predecessors.

I would sincerely like to thank Thatcham Bowling Club for nominating me and their continued support, past and present.

I offer my congratulations to Richard Heathman, our immediate Past President, on a very successful year and thank him, and the other members of our Executive Committee, for their help and guidance over the past two years.

I look forward to working closely with our Senior Deputy President, Peter Oakley.  I welcome on board our new Junior Deputy President Keith Sawdon, who has also taken on the role as Honorary Competition Secretary from John Higgs.  I would like the opportunity to thank John Higgs for all his hard work that he has done for the Association.  I would also like to thank Bill Greenway for his past efforts and wish him well for the future.

Every President hopes to be able to lift the coveted Middleton Cup and I am no exception to the rule.

To all the Selection Committee, County Coach, Middleton Cup Manager and his team, the under 30 Squad Manager and the Umpires, thank you for your support.

The County has a full programme of Inter County matches, Bannerettes and Celebration matches this year.  I would like to take the opportunity to thank the numerous clubs involved for hosting these events.  I appreciate all the long days and hard work that goes into these.  Without volunteers and club members these events would not be possible to take place.

I hope to see many old friends that I have made on my journey to this office and look forward to meeting new ones in the forthcoming year.  I also look forward to welcoming new members to the Association.

I wish all bowlers, and their families, good health and good luck for the coming year.

David Davies
President 2017
